STRO-employee Suzanne Olivier just returned from her visit to the STRO-projects in Nicaragua and Costa Rica. Below the last blog about her trip: We spent lunch with the manager of Coopevictoria and he has big plans. The existing UDIS project are to be transformed into a C3 project, tailor-making the methodology used in C3Uruguay and using Cyclos software.

aceptamos_udisCurrently the cooperative emits vouchers (f.e. through a 2% bonus at purchases at the cooperative stores) backed by the inventory of the Cooperative. The vouchers can be used as a means of local exchange at the local shops or to buy biofuel from the Cooperative.
The cooperative wants to engage the youth in the cooperative movement, as the youth in the area are well educated. Where the parents are farmers, working the lands, the children are doctors, lawyers, entrepreneurs, with different priorities. The cooperative strives to teach children the values and importance of agricultural production in a sustainable friendly way. Therefore, the Cooperative will work on a design of a project for the collection of trash and encourage children also to collect used cooking oil in their own houses. The manager also tells us that Coopevictoria plans to open their own Credit union, in the nearest future.
